Empowering Women in Tech: Mustgo's Female Driver Initiative

Women in Tech

At Mustgo, we believe that economic opportunity should be accessible to everyone. That is why we launched the Female Driver Initiative — a program designed to create safe, flexible earning opportunities for women across Africa.

Women face unique challenges in the ride-hailing industry, from safety concerns to societal expectations. Mustgo's Female Driver Initiative addresses these challenges head-on by providing dedicated support, specialized training, and a community of fellow female drivers.

2,500+ Female Drivers
12 Countries Active
85% Satisfaction Rate

Breaking Barriers

The initiative started in Nairobi with just 50 female drivers. Today, over 2,500 women across 12 African countries earn a reliable income through the Mustgo platform. We have partnered with local women's organizations to identify and train candidates, providing them with the skills and confidence to succeed.

Each participant receives comprehensive training covering defensive driving, financial literacy, customer service, and digital skills. We also connect new drivers with experienced mentors who guide them through their first weeks on the platform.

Safety Features for Women

Mustgo has introduced several features specifically designed to make female drivers and riders feel safer:

  • Women-Only Ride Preference: Female riders can choose to be matched with female drivers when available.
  • Enhanced Background Checks: All drivers undergo rigorous vetting, with additional verification steps for the Female Driver Initiative.
  • Community Support Groups: Private chat groups connect female drivers for support, advice, and networking.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Female drivers can set their own hours, making it easier to balance work with family responsibilities.

"Mustgo gave me the flexibility to earn an income while taking care of my children. I am not just a driver — I am a role model for my daughter and for other women in my community who want to work but need a safe option."

— Grace M., Mustgo Driver, Nairobi

Economic Impact

Female drivers on the Mustgo platform earn an average of 30% more than their previous income sources. Many have used their earnings to start small businesses, build homes, and fund their children's education.

The initiative has also created indirect economic benefits. Female drivers often become entrepreneurs themselves, referring friends and family members to the platform. This ripple effect amplifies the program's impact on local economies.

Looking Ahead

Mustgo plans to expand the Female Driver Initiative to all 15 countries by the end of 2026, with a goal of onboarding 10,000 female drivers. We are also developing financial literacy programs and small business loans to help our drivers build long-term financial stability.

Empowering women is not just the right thing to do — it makes our platform stronger, safer, and more inclusive for everyone.
